The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is getting a lot of complaints lately about scams involving mystery shopping—those ads that lure in the unemployed, stay-at-home moms or retirees, promising they’ll make tons of money by shopping. The scammers may use the trick of sending potential shoppers a huge check that looks totally legitimate. Our company, Customer Perspectives, will never send a check unless you’ve already done work for us. These fake companies give the shopper instructions to deposit the check, then to spend money at a select business, then wire back money to the mystery shopping firm. Since the first check is bad, the customer is sending his/her own money back to the firm. It’s a tough scam for law enforcement people to crack. If you receive such an offer, ignore it. If you’re interested in mystery shopping, contact CustomerPerspectives.com where it is all explained.
